Each have been linked with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on Monday.

The Manager's Position on The Scottish Club

McKenna described Celtic as "an enormous soccer institution" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy twelfth place in England's second tier.

"There have been such discussions," the London-born former Irish young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a unique job here at a special club. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't reached my awareness."

Context and Contractual Aspects

It has been suggested that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and declare what they used to be, but naturally it's a really big sports organization."

The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was asked about his reported buyout clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Town's coach forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the case, but I will consistently do my best as while I remain in position."

Bellamy's Position

Bellamy represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Wales forward is inclined to finish the current global tournament campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Celtic job.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in November would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, due to a productive Nations League campaign, even if they fail to end up Group J runners-up.

Considering his present stance, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the minimum.
