NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text of Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available on select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , following recent talk about two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking in those games was the amount of penalties each committed. The Eagles did so in key moments meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.

However it was good to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall before lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year with cornerback their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They had effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily sending extra pass rushers but they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.

Early on in the campaign, we said during a show how the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this season's dark horses?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).

It's impressive how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

That shows that Denver are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in positive situations.

It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to throw all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, plus he's so athletic.

His strengths include his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, and finding different arm angles to make throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to evade a sack whenever possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the area vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

Nix has pushed back with the coach during games at times and it seems the coach likes that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to have a rookie QB that is similar to moldable clay. He can truly develop him the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing on offence is largely down to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Right now, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're working better than most, which is a good place to hold their division. The key is to continue this path.

They're really good at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they're the only team yet to win any game.

Ever since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.

It depends on which form Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
