Soccer Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.
In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's latest album, the new release, is available on Friday.
Soccer and Family Life
Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their weekend football side," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their past four matches.
A family member told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.
Fulham have got lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.
Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.
But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
