Seamer Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Concerns.
'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson leaves the field with a hamstring injury.
Gus Atkinson increased the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.
Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring after the final ball in his spell during the morning session.
Team management stated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and was to take time off the field in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".
The final Test of the tour at the SCG begins at the end of the week.
England have previously lost strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury during this series.
Matthew Fisher was added to the party as cover for Wood.
His form was underwhelming early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.
He was omitted for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.
The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, before adding 28 while batting among just a trio of teammates to reach double figures.
Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he came back for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
Yet, on the final ball of the fifth over, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.
Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match following his omission the Adelaide game.
