Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
