The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with utilizing the total value of frozen Russian holdings to bolster the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the UK, France, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in tight collaboration with the America.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government initiated its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, funds allocated to Ukraine using Russia's assets had solely been sourced from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were in agreement in their goal to advance efforts toward utilizing the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He noted that additional restrictions soon would increase the strain on Russia.

This declaration comes after European officials gathered in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing seized Russia's funds for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to seize or employ immobilized Russia's funds, based on media sources.

The total of seized Russia's holdings in the European Union is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky urges the United Kingdom's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL programme

The Russian government executed extensive bombardments all over Ukraine on Friday, leading to electricity outages in many areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed reporters he would urge Sir Keir to enter the PURL programme, under which partner nations acquire arms from the America to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the Britain's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he said it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the system, as well as enforce additional sanctions on the Russian Federation.
