In a surprising collaboration that breaks traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A mysterious encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine group.

The adventure centers on "bizarre tests and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Metamorphoses

The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
